Frequently
Asked Questions
Q.)
-- What is an account and why do I need one to purchase?
A.) -- In the most basic sense, an
account comprises your name, number, and current shipping address.
Nothing more. From there one has options for tax exemption, net
accounts, and other such good things. We just have the accounts
to track purchases, nothing more.
Q.)
-- How do I setup an account?
A.) -- Depends on the kind of the
account. For a standard personal account or one for a personal
business ,basically an account that does not pay under net terms
and is not tax exempt (cash and credit only), all you need to
do is contact sales. For tax exemption, contact sales as well,
however you'll need to fill out a few forms for tax exemption
status. For NET accounts, business tax exempt accounts, or to
use business checks, see the "New Accounts" section
below. Or click here.
Q.)
-- Why does EBC refund the current price or the invoice price,
whichever of the two is lower?
A.) -- Basically when you return an
item we send it to our technicians, they test it and when found
good it is placed back for sale. If bad it is sent back
to our suppliers to get exchanged. In either case we have
an extra item that cannot be sold at the price originally paid.
We only refund what the product is worth at that time. If
the price is higher than what you paid we will give you what you
paid back. This is to prevent customers treating us like
the stock market, and you have lost nothing.
Q.)
-- Why can't my friend come in and pay with his check on my account?
A.) -- Checks bounce, mistakes happen.
If your friend comes in and bounces a check on your account,
you will be responsible. Personal accounts aren't anything
special, and there's no price difference between any of
our customers. Have your friend set up his own account.
Q.)
-- Why can't my friend come in and pay with my check on
my account?
A.) -- We're not sure they are who
they say they are, pure and simple. Believe it or not, this has
happened before.
Q.)
-- Why can't my son come in and pay with my credit card (Visa,
Mastercard, Discover, American Express)?
A.) -- With the increasing fraud rate
in the world we are just trying to protect you and your hard earned
money. If purchases are going to be paid with a credit (or
debit) card the cardholder MUST be present.
Q.)
-- Can I send my friend down to return items I purchased?
A.) -- No. Why? In the case of a return
money or credit is given back to the customer. To protect
you as a customer we will only give the refund check to you.
Also if there is any loss in the return, due to a lower price,
we need to let you know what's going on and any other options
you may desire.
Q.)
-- So just what is the 5% warranty, anyway?
A.) -- Let us take, for example,
of a motherboard dying in the 8th month of it's year warranty
through EBC. Let us also say that EBC has stopped carrying this
particular model for whatever reason. Let us also say that it's
for a customer of yours that needs a replacement NOW. (Yes, this
instance occurs frequently, believe it or not.) What do you do?
EBC's warranty only covers that motherboard through sending it
back to the manufacturer. On the original invoice, if you were
to have paid 5% of the cost of the item (if the motherboard is
$100, it ends up being $5 plus tax) then you'd have a motherboard
of equal or greater value within 5 days. Should
an option such as this be completely impractical, (this would
be determined on a case by case instance) then we can give you a refund,
minus the 5%. Keep in mind that the 5% is non-refundable.
Thus the reason(s) why this warranty covers you so well. There
are some items that the 5% warranty is not available on;
these items include: specials, cables, cases, and software. Contact
sales for more information.
